“I just wanted to make a record that would sound good from beginning to end while cruising down a highway and hold the listener’s interest the whole time.” —Nate Brenner
News this week from Nate Brenner, whose time grinding the highways last year on tour with tune-yards became a chief inspiration for his forthcoming solo LP. (Extended hours in a van will do that to you.) Brenner, who cowrote some of the frenetic tunes from last year’s acclaimed W H O K I L L, has announced a debut album from his new project Naytronix.
Dirty Glow is a strange brew of groove&blues built from found sounds, homemade instruments, and Brenner’s funk- and jazz-reared bass stylings. Expect it October 9th, on Plug Research Music. Lead single “Robotic” is below: A Ke$ha meets Kraftwerk synth jam, it’s more an upbeat twist than deep ‘n dark churners like “In The Summer” or “Evil Dancer”—also promising highlights.
