Last week the Los Angeles rock-capella trio Warm Weather debuted its first video, for “So Far/Vertigo,” the standout track from their first EP Dances. The video sports the ‘merciless beauty’ of Cocoon Central Dance Team’s choreography, which jogs to the calypso-bump of the beach-pop chorale as it builds and splashes like a wave of lemonade. The band meanwhile is nowhere to be seen—presumably working on a full-length answer to their two (equally ebullient) EPs.

By the middle of his band’s stroboscopic (see, not epilepsy-friendly) performance, John Philpot was dancing alone at the center of the Bowery Ballroom stage: elbows hiked up around mid-torso, legs and fists pumping, his face an exuberant half-grin, half-grimace. Our favorite psychedelic soul-mongers the Stepkids recently announced they’ll be touring the West Coast starting late in June. The next string of shows will keep our first cover-stars on the road, where they’ve been slugging it out with fellow Stone Throwers Mayer Hawthorne and the County for some time already.
The new dates—posted after the break—will see the Brooklyn-via-Connecticut trio joined by acknowledged “hometown buddies” Mates of State. The Stepkids will return to the North East for late-summer festival gigs before jetting across the pond for shows in September.

Parlovr will drop the synthy–jangly Kook Soul tomorrow, on Dine Alone Records. Grab an audio-morsel above, which, in case you missed it, was reviewed in our last issue—”You Only Want It ‘Cause You’re Lonely” is still our favorite:
“This lead single trumpets the approaching third album by Montreal trio Parlovr—pronounced parlour. It arrives on a blissful stream of echo-chamber doo–wop, all airy coos and snapping fingers that eventually burst in a surge of Electric-Light theatrics…”
