HASH Magazine Interviews MaG

April 28, 2012 § Leave a comment

Last issue’s Q/A profiled Bronx rap comer MaG, who’s chiseling his next album and fighting to keep the soul in his sound:

“I write for myself. I write for the hip-hop head. But I want my music to have a broader reach… I don’t like that feeling of hearing a project and it not sounding complete, not being cohesive. The Roots’ undun: that’s the barometer. I’m a fan first. If it doesn’t sound right, I don’t want to hear it—so why would anyone else?”

—MaG (The New Competitive Edge: Issue 4, p37)
