Air Returning to the Moon With New Album, Next Week

Last year, at the behest of the foundations restoring it, Air scored the 1902 silent film Le Voyage Dans la Lune (or, A Trip to the Moon), just in time for the 2011 Cannes festival. Afterward, the French duo decided to expand it into a full-length (not unlike Pixies leader Black Francis, who a few years ago spun a soundtrack around The Golem, a German flick from 1920).
The LP-ified Voyage arrives next Tuesday, Feb 7th, on Astralwerks. It’s bold (the tympani-and-banjo-kind of bold) with plenty of Air-y synth magic. It’s Floyd-ish (it does use a movie as a springboard, after all). Most importantly, it’s oh-so-good.
